Stepping It Up

We are in our building but now comes the time to step up.  It will take finances to stay in the building on a monthly basis and God will hold us to the task of making it happen.  In 1 Chron 29:3-5 King David is asking the people to step up to the task of contributing to the building of the house of the Lord; what we would call today... the church.  Listen how he finishes verse 5 of our text...

1 Chronicles 29: 3-5 3 Moreover, because I have set my affection on the house of my God, I have given to the house of my God, over and above all that I have prepared for the holy house, my own special treasure of gold and silver: 4 three thousand talents of gold, of the gold of Ophir, and seven thousand talents of refined silver, to overlay the walls of the houses; 5 the gold for things of gold and the silver for things of silver, and for all kinds of work to be done by the hands of craftsmen. Who then is willing to consecrate himself this day to the Lord?"

Who is willing to give of themselves for this great work?  Who is willing to invest in this awesome task of building a house for the Lord? Who is willing to give sacrificially and faithfully to the work of God?

What about you and I?  Are we willing to be faithful in building a house where God's people can come and worship, hear the Word of God, fellowship, and trust the Lord?  Will you be faithful in your tithes and offerings? King David says, "Who then is willing to consecrate himself this day to the Lord?  Will you step up and be counted with those who say, "We will."  The chapter mentions that the people gave willingly.  That is what God would like to see in us and that is the way God will build His church.
